Project Overview

Rocco Law is a boutique law firm with over 20 years of experience located in the heart of Philadelphia, PA. The firm was in need of a new logo and an updated website to showcase their services and results.

Philadelphia Inspired Logo Design

The partners of Rocco Law—Jim & Deb Rocco—have deep roots in Philadelphia. With their office located just across the way from City Hall, we looked to the local architecture as inspiration for their new branding. The primary wordmark is simple, yet sophisticated. Blinebury Design created two unique patterns for the firm that are used throughout their marketing materials and website. The compass is part of the marble courtyard of City Hall. The square shape used as a pattern is a simplified visualization of City Hall as seen from an aerial perspective. Our goal was to create visual elements that were Philly through-and-through without utilizing visual cliches (think the Liberty Bell and a cheesesteak).

Website Design

The custom website developed for Rocco Law features custom layouts for both wide screens and mobile devices like tablets and phones for optimal viewing across all browsers and screen types. The website design carefully integrates branding typography, patterns and colors throughout all elements from buttons to customizable testimonial boxes. A full-screen navigation window allows users to easily access website content, find contact information or submit a quick message to the firm.

High-Quality Photography

Blinebury Design called on the services of its go-to photographer Sam Fritch for attorney profile images and atmospheric images of downtown Philadelphia to be used throughout the website. We made sure that every aspect of the website—from marketing-driven copy to beautiful photography—aligned with the project goals of attracting new clients to the firm and establishing Rocco Law as a trusted law firm committed to protecting the interests of its clients.

Stoke Newington Chambers

Project Overview

Stoke Newington Chambers is the legal practice of Kristin Heimark, a direct access barrister located in London. Kris provides her expert legal knowledge to clients at fixed pricing with a no-nonsense approach. We worked with her to create a brand image for her practice that would not only capture her honest approach but also the charm of Stoke Newington itself.

Creating a Wordmark

Through our research, we learned that the Stoke Newington district (called “Stokey” by many of its inhabitants) is known for political radicalism, multiculturalism, and has a wonderful look—a true blend of classic and modern styles. Through the branding we wanted to reference the aesthetic history of Stoke Newington while keeping the final wordmark fresh and modern.

In the end, Kristin received a branding package that contains several iterations of the wordmark, including business-name-only, with tagline embellishment (“The fearless defence you deserve.”), and upon a badge based on some of the classic signage found in Stokey. The marriage of classic sign style to a modern typeface gave us the branding that fit best.

Typographic Website

The website for Stoke Newington Chambers incorporates strong typography and the branded color palette in a fully responsive layout. The media content on the website is minimal and the copy itself is really the star. It was important to utilize beautiful, highly legible typefaces and to create a backdrop for the content to be the star.

Project Overview

Berner, Klaw & Watson is a female-led law practice located in the heart of Philadelphia, PA, specializing in divorce, custody, LGBT relationship, and support practice areas. The firm was in need of a new logo and updated website to showcase their focus on family law.

Warm And Inviting Brand Image

Before working with Blinebury Design, Berner, Klaw & Watson had been using a wordmark which had not been touched in over ten years. Our strategy was to keep the existing stacked layout while integrating bold typography and a new color palette. The result is a timeless wordmark with subtle slicing details on the primary initials of the firm, and visual enhancement from a colorful ampersand.

Family Law Logo Wordmark

Wordmark vs. Logo

The words “logo”, “wordmark” and “branding” are often used interchangeably. All can refer to the specific image, graphic and/or group of words associated with a specific company or organization. “Wordmark” refers to a specific typographic-only treatment of the name of a business; think Coca-Cola or Google – their wordmarks are instantly recognizable.

Content Strategy And Website Design

Before starting any website project, we work with the client to develop a site map (an outline-style list or chart of all the pages that will be included on the website). We also discuss options for the kind of content that we will feature throughout the site. This content may include photographs, videos, testimonials, case studies, etc. Typically, we are working with existing website content, but we often encourage our clients to create new content (especially in regards to visual media) that can become an important asset for attracting potential clients/customers to a website.

The Berner, Klaw & Watson homepage is full of visual assets, including short video featurettes of its six primary attorneys. Our website design for the law firm was influenced by the integration of these videos, as well as amazing photos by Beck Photography.

The Mayer Group

Posted on: October 8th, 2014 by Beth Blinebury

Project Overview

Eric Mayer reached out to us to rebrand his law practice and give it a new home online. Once a solo attorney, Eric had grown his firm into a small team working exclusively with veterans and service members as representatives for military law cases. We first worked with Eric to rename his practice The Mayer Group. After we got that out of the way, Eric had one imperative: It can’t look like every other law firm template out there.

Unique Law Branding Inspired by Gin

You read that right! Eric was not a fan of most law firm branding and wanted something simple and effective, but with style. We bonded quickly over a shared love of gin and he mentioned loving the branding for Brooklyn Gin. Seeing the kind of visual look the client was attracted to definitely helped guide our plan of attack!

Our branding concept for The Mayer Group was to create a clean, effective wordmark that would stand out amongst the slew of over-the-top patriotic logos we found during our research process. With this strategy executed, Eric’s firm can stand out as an exclusive, boutique firm that offers what we’ve dubbed “elite representation.” With alternating layouts, a monogram, ancillary graphics featured on the website, and a tasteful military green color palette, the branding for The Mayer Group is professional, effective and timeless.

Stand-out Law Firm Website

Our boutique strategy continued with the website design: Our aim was overall minimal and content-focused. We used photography sparsely, and where it is present, the colors have been desaturated and set in the brand color palette. Custom icons were created that easily reference military service areas. In this context and styling, what could have been a cliché use of iconography instead subtly supports the tone of the website and message.
